Meet the Instructors
Robin Lysaker,
Robin’s passion for West Coast Swing began in 2016, and within six months he attended his first international event, he was fully hooked. He quickly found success in competitions and started teaching in 2022. As an instructor, Robin emphasizes clear communication and a deep understanding of the dance, always prioritizing the comfort and connection in his partnerships.
Competing at an advanced level WSDC ( World Swing Dance Coucil), Robin travels frequently to stay up-to-date with the rapidly evolving West Coast Swing scene. He also enjoys DJing at many of the events he attends, adding another dimension to his involvement in the dance community. Robin takes pride in every aspect of West Coast Swing and is dedicated to continuously expanding his knowledge and sharing his passion with others.
Ardena Gojani Neumayr
Ardena is the heart behind ArGo Movement, a platform dedicated to teaching, inspiring, and growing the West Coast Swing community. With her creative energy and passion for connection, she has built spaces where dancers feel welcomed, encouraged, and challenged to grow—not just in dance, but in confidence and self-expression.
She is also the founder of two major international events, Sol Swing and Winter White, which have become beloved gatherings that bring dancers together from all over the world. These events reflect Ardena’s vision: combining high-quality learning with unforgettable social experiences, all rooted in joy and community.
Whether she’s teaching classes, hosting socials, or organizing international events, Ardena’s goal remains the same—to create meaningful connections through dance and to inspire people to step into their fullest potential.
NORA BIRKENES
Nora began her dance journey at age 4 and rediscovered her love for it during college through couples dancing classes. When she found WCS, it instantly became her passion. With her background, she quickly advanced to the intermediate level in the WSDC (World Swing Dance Council) system, winning several competitions in Scandinavia.
Nora loves traditional blues music, is highly creative on the dance floor, and always wears a big smile. Her passion for dance is infectious, helping students learn quickly and enjoyably. She is excited to bring her energy and expertise to the classes at Westie Wednesday.
IDA MARIE STRAND
Ida began her dance journey with Norwegian folk swing and discovered her passion for West Coast Swing in the USA. Growing up above the Arctic Circle, she moved to Oslo last fall to fully immerse herself in the dance scene. Dancing represents pure happiness and the ultimate form of self-expression. She dances in advance division in WSDC ( World Swing Dance Council).
Ida’s students adore her authentic personality & passion for teaching. With a keen eye for detail, she excels at helping dancers master the nuances that make WCS more enjoyable. Her dedication and enthusiasm make her an exceptional teacher, ready to inspire and elevate the dance community.
ELISE NORDLI
KIM TOMAS KLEVENGEN
Kim Tomas discovered Rock Step Swing at the University of Oslo in 2008 and has been dancing ever since. He has enjoyed various styles, including LA Salsa, Boogie Woogie, and Lindy Hop, but fell in love with West Coast Swing in 2010. Holding a “Trener 1 – Swing” certification from the Norwegian Dance Association, Kim Tomas has extensive teaching experience from Rock Step Swing at OSI Dans.
Beyond dance, Kim Tomas is a dedicated football referee and advocate for worker’s rights. His enthusiasm and expertise makes him an inspiring teacher, ready to share the joy of West Coast Swing.
Maria Ilina
Mariia’s dance journey began with hustle and discofox, drawn to the athleticism of dance. While she progressed quickly, she eventually felt limited in expressing herself. That’s when she discovered West Coast Swing, which opened up a new world for her.
WCS brought calm, reduced stress, and allowed her to express her true self through movement. Her love for the dance deepened after moving to Norway, where the warmth of the local community helped her fully embrace each dance as an opportunity for joy and individuality.
For Mariia, dance is a reflection of the inner self, and she believes it’s a way to grow and improve in all areas of life.
Herman Aarstrand Kirste
Herman has always enjoyed dancing, but his journey truly began with Cuban salsa, inspired by his travels in South America and love for Latin music. He later discovered West Coast Swing by coincidence when the local salsa class at NTNUI Dans in Trondheim was full—and it quickly became his favorite style.
For Herman, West Coast Swing is all about moving to the music—the groove, the creativity, and the excitement of discovering where each dance will take him.
